Wheatsheaf InnWheatsheaf Inn - Egton, Whitby
This 19th century inn is situated in the town of Egton, which is around 5 miles from Whitby town. The interior has traditional, cosy furnishings such as beamed ceilings an open-fire place. The landlord has a penchant for collecting various articles, which can be seen displayed on the walls. These include fishing rods, model boats and sports equipment. In addition to the local ales, the Wheatsheaf also serves an award-winning, seasonal la carte menu, which uses local fresh fish and game. There's also a daily specials board to wet the appetite and a large wine list.

Board InnBoard Inn - Lealholm, Whitby
One of the oldest Whitby pubs around, dating back to the mid 18th century. It's situated in the peaceful village of Lealholm and within the North Yorkshire National Park. The pubhas a cosy interior with an open-fire and low ceilings and was featured in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2009. It serves 4 real ales, draft cider and over 60 malt whiskeys. There's also a good menu, complimented by a decent selection of wines, and a terraced area from which to enjoy meals. The pub has its own fishing rights so visitors are also allowed to fish from the terraced area, at the rear of the property.

Duke of YorkDuke of York - Church Street, Whitby Town
A popular Whitby pub which overlooks the picturesque harbour and sits at the bottom of the 199 steps. The interior is decorated in a traditional style with beamed ceilings and stone floors. Visitors will find the usual selection of real ales such as Spitfire, Black Sheep and Courage Directors; there's also a whisky bar which serves a large collection of single malts. Window seats are the best way to enjoy a drink as well as the view, although, unsurpisingly, these prove rather popular with other drinkers.

Blac HorseBlackhorse Inn - 91 Church Street, Whitby Town
The Black Horse Inn is one of the oldest pubs in Whitby, dating back to the 16th century. It's a small, cosy watering hole, centrally located on Church Street. A selection of cask ales are served including Black Dog Rhatas, Adnams Bitter, Taylors and Landlord - there's also two guest ales. A good collection of ciders and wines are also available as well as the usual compliment of mainstream lagers. Visitors might enjoy their tapas menu which features a local Yorkshire cheese board and a seafood selection which utlises locally caught Whitby fish.

Board InnBoard Inn - Church Street, Whitby Town
Not to be confused with its name-sake in Leaholm, this Whitby pub is located on Church Street next-door to the Duke of York. It's position close to the harbour makes it a popular destination, as does its collection of real ales which includes Theakstons, Deuchars IPA and Old Peculiar. The small beer garden affords fine views out over the harbour and the atmosphere is relaxed, with locals and tourists mixing freely. Meals are served in a downstairs dining room, which also provides great views of Whitby.

White HouseThe White House Hotel - Upgang Lane, Whitby Town
The White House is situated away from the town centre and next to Whitby Golf Course. The pub, which has recently undergone extensive interior refurbishment, offers a selection of hand-pulled real ales and an a la carte menu. There's a bar/lounge area with an impressive beer garden which overlooks the coast and provides some stunning vistas. The top-knotch food is complimented by a large wine list as well as a selection of liqueur coffees. Dietary requirements are accommodated with prior notice.

Fox and Hounds restaurantFox and Hounds - Danby, Whitby
The Fox and Hounds, which is reknowned for its hospitality and level of service, is situated around 16 miles from Whitby town. This former 16th century coaching inn was awarded four stars by Visit Britain and offers a range of cask ales and fine wines. The traditional bar area is resplendid with oak beams and an open-fire, ideal for those winter evenings. There's also a regularly changing menu for visitors to enjoy, which includes popular local Whitby dishes such as haddock and Whitby Scampi.
